ABOUT LG SUMMIT 2024
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP) will jointly conduct the Local Governance Summit 2024 on 22-23 August 2024 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City. Said event is being organized in partnership with the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office (UN RCO), World Bank, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and concerned national government agencies.
With the theme “LGUs sa Bagong Pilipinas: Smart. Resilient. Driven.”, the summit reflects the Department's commitment to solidify the bond between the national and local governments, empowering them to become effective partners in national development. It aims to gather local chief executives, local elective officials, LGU functionaries, policymakers, and other stakeholders to discuss innovations to development challenges, and facilitate knowledge exchange and sharing of good practices to bolster excellence in local governance for enhanced public service delivery and the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The forum will be conducted via in-person participation and will be livestreamed in various online platforms. Plenary and break-out sessions, exhibits, and interfacing activities will be held during the two-day summit.
